Every year, couples from all over the world travel to Cappadocia for wedding photos or an elopement. If you're planning to travel here from abroad, this guide is for you.
Getting There
Airports
Cappadocia can be reached via two airports:
- Nevşehir Cappadocia Airport (NAV): 30 minutes to Göreme
- Kayseri Erkilet Airport (ASR): 1 hour to Göreme
There are daily direct flights from Istanbul. Charter flights from Europe are also available at certain times of the year.
Transfer
Airport-to-hotel transfers are usually organized by the hotels. We also provide transfer support.
Accommodation
Cappadocia's cave hotels are famous worldwide. Our recommendations for couples planning a wedding photoshoot:
- Luxury tier: Sultan Cave Suites, Museum Hotel, Argos in Cappadocia
- Mid tier: Kelebek Special Cave Hotel, Mithra Cave Hotel
- Boutique: Taskonaklar, Hezen Cave Hotel
Tip: Choose a hotel with a terrace — it lets you do both a balloon-filled morning shoot and a romantic evening shoot.
Language
Since Cappadocia is a tourism region, English is widely spoken. At Fairylight Studio, we provide service in English. We also have team members who speak Arabic, Russian, and German.
How Long Should You Stay?
We recommend a minimum of 3 nights:
- Day 1: Arrival, rest, location scouting
- Day 2: Shoot day (early morning start)
- Day 3: Touring Cappadocia, balloon tour, or an extra shoot
- Day 4: Departure
For couples doing an elopement, 4-5 nights is ideal.
Choosing a Season
The periods we recommend most for couples traveling from abroad:
- September–October: Perfect weather, autumn colors
- April–May: Flowers in bloom, cool and sunny
- Winter (January–February): For bold couples who want a snowy landscape
Legal Matters
If you want a legally recognized marriage in Turkey, certain documents are required. This process can take 3-5 business days. Contact us for details — we guide you through the entire procedure.
If you prefer a symbolic ceremony, no documents are needed at all. Many couples get legally married in their home country and hold a symbolic ceremony in Cappadocia.
Currency and Payment
Turkish Lira is the official currency, but EUR and USD are widely accepted in the tourism sector. Credit cards are accepted almost everywhere. We accept payment in EUR, USD, and TL.
Working with Fairylight Studio
We handle planning through online meetings. We can coordinate the entire process remotely. We'll be there to greet you on arrival, and by shoot day, every detail will already be taken care of.
The first step: send us a message. We'll take care of the rest.
